*****To all seventh and eighth grade parents- For those students who are absent, you must be proactive in calling a classmate in the morning and asking them to get your work. Just telling the office to send home assignments with a sibling is not sufficient. In the seventh and eighth grade there is substantial work, I should say much more than substantial work, done during the day that your child is missing. We are having discussions that lead to questions that will appear on future tests. We are brainstorming math strategies that your child is missing. Since technology is a very big part of all our lives, it is paramount that your child ask a friend to snapshot a picture of the notes that were given and written about during the time that your child is absent, especially students who miss a week or more of school. Have a buddy who will collect all your worksheets and assignments. It is a reciprocal relationship. You will take notes for them when they are absent and they will help you out when you are absent. Your child cannot be successful in school if they are not consistently in school.

****To the eighth grade- I just wanted to tell you how proud I am of the job you did at the robotics competition Wednesday night. In my eyes you are winners. Each area, the rules, programming, builders, spirit squad and drivers, worked together so hard to create a winning team. What I am the most proud of is that you put aside trying to achieve personal accolades for the good of the team, choosing amongst yourselves who would be the best to go out on the floor. I must do a shout out to both Jenna and Derek, who worked so hard to get the chariot working with the meager classroom items available to us. I am not forgetting all those who worked in the initial stages of the chariot who gave ideas. I must also talk about our artists, who labored to create a logo for the team and spent many a lunch period finishing the posters. *Billye, thank you for being so patient with Ms. Catalano and I when we changed our minds so many times with the tee shirt logo.
